And it was later bought by Boeing to transport airport lugage (instead of people) to terminals, but it never was used.

Rohr's Flxible bus prototype caught on fire and people were trapped inside. The hydraulic system controlled the back emergency door. But since the hydraulics caused the fire, it had to be shut off. But then the door wouldn't open. Firemen opened the door. Nightmare for Rohr. Contracts canceled.

Rohr's Aerotrain is sitting in Pueblo, waiting for a revival.

Rohr's BART is still running after 35+ years in San Fransisco under the bay.

Fred sent me this photo of the mock-up. This is two years later at Transpo '72.

No steps to walk in this time. I don't like stairs.

Note that it has the official Aerotrain logo finally on it.

Yes. Rohr removed the wheels after they bought Monocab and (I think) used permanent magnets to propel and suspend it from overhang tracks and levitate it on surface tracks. My dad says the turns were too sharp for the wheeled version (the axles did not steer) and it derailed quite often, trapping people up in the air.

Amazing ! finally, a picture of it !

The prototype was also painted silver briefly. But all the dents and dings showed very well with the silver shine. So they immediately painted it over with a coat of white that was not as shiney. It was only silver color for a couple of days.

But where is the mock-up now? A search team will be needed.
